Life is full of distractions so much so that we have become less accepting of our true selves. This goes to show how far we have gone away from the love of God. Accepting yourself means you are accepting the creation of God. The bible tells us in Genesis 1:26 that we were created in God’s image, and so if you accept yourself as God created you, you will then begin to understand your purpose because in the process, God imprinted everything that you require to accomplish your purpose in life. Accepting yourself means, you love every attribute God has given you, and it shows that you love the image of God in you, which is your spirit man.
Not accepting your true self causes low self esteem. People with low self-esteem are usually among the low achiever’s and will very easily get lost in the crowd. They have a poor view of themselves and lack the energy to move their life forward. They have little or no control of the facets of their life and are slaves to the mental chatter about what other people think about them. They are in the constant grip of self-criticism which squashes any glimmer of confidence and self-worth. This type of mind set is definitely not what God requires of us. God requires us to be confident with everything, because He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of boldness.
Low self-esteem is mostly caused by fear of rejection, people pleasing, and fear of the unknown. To conquer this feeling, we need to begin to operate in Love because the bible says that perfect love overcomes fear. 1 peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” Therefore fear not, you are a king/queen, and chosen by the most high God.
Romans 8:35-39 says “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
If God cannot separate from us because of the love He has for us, we should not also separate from the image He gave us. Love your neighbor as yourself, but if you don’t love yourself, or accept yourself, how then can you love a neighbor? I want to encourage you to accept your true self by first loving yourself, and you will see that you will gain boldness, confidence and show more love than ever.
I pray that the almighty God shows you how to accept your true self by giving you a deeper understanding of who you are in the name of Jesus. God bless you.
